SILENCE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF let the silence speak for us even though it speaks for itself I won't come between you and your city it's about the cities more than us he warns me he is trying to show me what I neglect to see again and again it comes up I notice, because it's what I avoid hands clutched inter woven red circuit watching why asking why tracking why I saw him only twice slowed my pace as he caught my eye on the bench in the sun in the middle of the movement weaving a basket most efficiently smile from inner knowledge an aging Asian man, invitingly busy defying our culture by honoring his own Tompkins Square for acceptance I meant to sit with him one day to watch him work and the movement play Jaipong Bath open to the movement matterless The Universe rising through my spine I knew I would see him again the doubtful one, the suspicious one poking at the fire, any distraction will do face false from protection voice careful of meaning witness the spirit withdrawing covering its tracks as it goes I could show you how it rocks me to and fro

IN THIS THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE The Female Snake Great changes have stirred us all Intrinsic fate comes forth Lives disintegrating Lives solidifying Theres no end to the changes IN THIS THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE IN THIS THE YEAR OF YOGA Each stretch aids the next Effortlessly-Consciously Accepting of what comes Adapting to what is Watching what was begin to drop away The self strong The self accommodating Keep moving-Keep moving IN THIS THE YEAR OF YOGA IN THIS THE YEAR OF THE LIE'S TRUTH Deception can no longer deceive They are not my concerns, Not my interests, Your boarders, Your Dramas. Your politicized relationships I'm turning you off Leaving you out Letting go I know what your saying I've said it myself Be aware of the suffering Wise to the distractions I've come to occupy myself, myself IN THIS THE YEAR OF THE LIES TRUTH IN THIS THE YEAR OF VEERING SUBSTANCE we may find ourselves asking What do we do with the changes What do we do now Now what? Now that its here Now that's its gone Now what? Priorities questions Priorities doubts and affirmations What now? Now what? What's important now? IN THIS THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE Eternity is already happening

Fulcrum is, according to one critic, a headfirst dive into the technobabbleopolis near future as imagined as an organic, pulsating, chiaroscuro soundscape of agifolk (harp guitar and contralto vocals) melded to DJ-assembled electronica (plenty of beats yin/yaning of ambient space) and untethered jazz (trumpet, clarinet, cello, keyboards, and bass clearly in solo/improv-ville). Imagine the otherworldly offspring of Frith, Nico, Galas, Eno, the Chemical Brothers, and American composer Elliott Carter (think of his quirky string quartets) and you've got some idea of what's up here.

1997 Recorded in Seattle at Flora Avenue Studios and Brighton England at Loophole Studio.
Engineered by Tucker Martine and Simon Walker.
Post Production by Layng Martine at South Eddy Studios.
Produced by Sue Ann Harkey and Organism.
